1. Call to Order
Chair Higgins called the meeting to order at 5:31 pm.
2. Pledge of Allegiance
Commissioner Mason led the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. Invocation
Chair Higgins asked for a moment of silence for those needing thoughts and prayers.
4. Informational
Kristin Steyerman, Jaime Espitia, and Ashley Reid provided an overview of Love Brea.
Deputy Director Sean Matlock provided an update on the recent Health & Wellness Expo.

5.A. Presentation: Arbor Day
Chair Higgins presented an Arbor Day Proclamation to the Public Works staff.
5.B. Presentation: Recognition of Assistant City Manager Chris Emeterio's 43 Years of Service to the City of Brea
Chair Higgins presented Assistant City Manager Chris Emeterio with a proclamation in advance of his retirement to thank him for his 43 years of service to the City of Brea.
6. Matters from the Audience
Girls Softball President Melinda Haslam spoke about the unauthorized use of the fields at Tamarack Park.
7. School District Representative
BOUSD Assistant Superintendent Rick Champion provided an update from the school district.

Deputy Director Sean Matlock read a Yelp review that was received regarding the Brea Community Center.

9.A. Approval of Minutes of March 27, 2024 Meeting
The motion to approve was made by Commissioner Mason and seconded by Vice Chair Rifilato.

Nays: None
Absence: Livingston

10. Discussion
Deputy Director Sean Matlock stated that the city is hard at work on the western extension of the Tracks at Brea. He also mentioned additional signage on the tracks that would be brought back to the Commission for approval at the next meeting. Chair Higgins has concerns about the enforcement of speed with E-bikes. Assistant City Manager Chris Emeterio said this is an issue in the surrounding cities and to keep an eye on this,
10.A. Arovista Park Modernization Update
Senior Management Analyst Jenn Colacion thanked those who were able to attend the Arrovista Park Groundbreaking Event and updated them about the timeline.
10.B. Tracks at Brea Update

Deputy Director Sean Matlock talked about the Golf Courses getting busier as the summer warms up and apologized for inadvertently leaving out the calendar of events.

12. Reports
Assistant City Manager Chris Emeterio congratulated Ashley Reid on her promotion to Community Services Specialist in Special Events and introduced Carrie Hosozawa as the new Executive Assistant for Community Services.
Commissioner Rifalato attended a few events and was pleased with how well attended they were.
Deputy Director Carrie Hernandez mentioned that the Cultural Arts booth at Taste of Brea will be held on May 23rd.
Special Events Coordinator Kristin Steyerman updated the Commission about the Country Fair on July 4th.
