2.A. Approval of Minutes
Vice Chair Bernal made a motion to approve the minutes with a minor correction and Commissioner Shay seconded the motion.

2.B. FY 2025-2027 Community Services Budget Update & Proposed Fee Schedule
Senior Management Analyst Anthony Godoy presented the budget and led a review of proposed program fee schedules. The Commission was asked to support the proposed fee schedule, which will be presented to the Parks, Recreation, and Human Services Commission in the coming weeks.The Commission asked questions regarding Fund 181. Staff provided historical context, noting the Community Center opened in July 1996 and that $167,000 is allocated annually from the General Fund to Fund 181 for its support.Vice Chair Bernal made a motion to approve and Commissioner Shay seconded the motion.

3.A. Cultural Arts Summer Preview
Special Events Supervisor Kristin Steyerman and Theatre Director Kris Kataoka presented an overview of summer programs and events, emphasizing the hard work and planning that goes into making them successful. The summer timeline includes various exhibitions, concerts, family films, and community events, such as the Country Fair, Brea Fest and summer art camps.

4.B. Theatre Committee
Vice Chair Bernal said they had narrowed down the Amplify submissions to eight finalists.
4.C. Site Awareness Committee
None.
4.D. Art in Public Places Committee
Commissioner Shay reported that the Committee had approved two installations at their meeting on April 28.
4.E. Country Fair Committee
Vice Chair Bernal stated that they had been meeting regularly and working on sponsorships.
4.F. General Plan Steering Committee
None.
4.G. Cultural Arts Recognition Program Ad Hoc Committee
Vice Chair Bernal provided an update on the recognition program, which aims to honor individuals and groups for their community contributions. The team is finalizing the design and award categories, with an emphasis on marketing and presentation. The Ad Hoc Committee will convene prior to the next meeting and will provide further updates.

5.B. B. Information Memorandum/Staff Updates
Special Events Supervisor Kristin Steyerman highlighted the success of the Go. Serve, Brea event, which involved 15 projects and over 275 volunteers, despite the rain. The team is working on a home beautification contest for the Country Fair Steering Committee, with winners to be announced at a future meeting. The commission is encouraged to support and promote these events, which contribute to community engagement and volunteerism.
Ms. Steyerman introduced Alva Fox, the Special Events Coordinator, who previously worked with the City’s sports program and has recently joined the Special Events team. Ms. Fox was recognized for her dedication, creativity, and strong commitment to serving the community.

6. Adjournment
Deputy Director Sean Matlock shared the sad news of the passing of Julie Telles, a long-time Tiny Tots instructor. The Commission expressed their condolences and gratitude for Julie’s dedicated service to the community. The meeting was adjourned by Chair Falco in Julie's honor at 6:27 pm, followed by a moment of silence in remembrance of her contributions.
