8. MANAGER'S REPORT
Dr. Robert Lennox, Assistant City Manager - The Planning and Economic Development team have done a tremendous job this year. Thank you to the commission for your service. This year is going to be even more involved with a lot of items on the horizon. The team is going to be recognized on October 21st at the City Council meeting. The CMO finished its recruitment process for the director's position.
Planning Manager McKina Alexander - October is National Planning Month. We do this every year in celebration of all the hard work that our commission does as well as the planning professionals. It's very important that we recognize you, your hard work, your dedication, and your service to our community. They're all here with exception of Associate Planner Max Castillo and Contract Planner Kaneca Pompey. I'll start off with Associate Planner Aaron Whiting, Assistant Planner Richard Garcia, Assistant Planner Jacob Collins, and Senior Planner Jarrod Coleman. If it wasn't for our administrative staff, we would hardly get anything done. I would also like to recognize our Planning Secretary Laura Gonzalez, Maria Gonzalez who keeps our budgets and our money right, Sandy Solis who has been helping us out, and Dalia Moreno who has joined our team. I have to acknowledge Christopher Palmer because he started all this. I want to make sure that Jarrod Coleman is acknowledged for all the hard work that he did as a producer, director, editing, spending many hours making sure that we had a fantastic product. I also want to thank Dr. Lennox for giving us a budget, it helped ease some of that processing that Jarrod was responsible for.
9. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS (COMMISSIONERS)
Assistant City Attorney Ben Jones - I would like to thank the commission for your service. The city is very fortunate to have you. Staff is fantastic and I love working with them.
Commissioner Wilson - It's amazing to be here, serve the community, and to be with amazing people that are about getting things done and moving the community forward.
Commissioner Docdocil - I echo the appreciation for everyone's work. I appreciate everybody's service.
Commissioner Huff - It's a pleasure to work with all of you. Thank you for all the work that you put into everything that you do.
Commissioner Guerra - It's been a pleasure to serve. I hope that when it all ends, we get to see everything that we've accomplished.
Commissioner Johnson - It's extremely gratifying to serve with support of staff, the community, and family.
Commissioner Mfume - It's an honor to serve on the commission. The film was wonderful.
Vice Chair Diaz - I echo the sentiments of my fellow commissioners. We couldn't have accomplished all without the entire team. It's gratifying to see behind the scenes the team that puts it together. We will continue to deliberate and agree to disagree on some of the things but at the end we all come together as a team. Unfortunately, I was away due to three deaths in the family and a couple of dear friends.
Chair Thomas - It has been an honor to serve as Chair of this commission. My fellow commissioners are hard working. I was not aware of the things that happened in our Vice Chair Diaz's family. A lot of people have lost loved ones in the past few months and they continue to push forward, that shows the character of people. I want to acknowlege McKina Alexander who lost her mom but she continued to do her job amid that. My condolences to the Diaz family and the Alexander family.
10. ADJOURNMENT
