Mayor Stewart called the General Session to order at 7:01 p.m. All members were present, with Council Member Vargas absent.

Pastor Rick Crockett, Crosspointe Church delivered the invocation.
1.D. Proclamation: Jewish American Heritage Month
Mayor Stewart presented Rabbi Levi Blesofsky, Rebbetzin Naomi Blesofsky and Joshua Shaffer with a Proclamation recognizing Jewish Heritage Month.
1.E. Community Announcements
Council Member Marick invited residents to join the City of Brea Fire, Police and Public Works Departments and learn how to stay safe during wildfires on Thursday, May 29th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Brea Community Center. Residents can learn about home hardening, defensible space, evacuation planning, emergency kit, wildfire response and more: In addition, guest speaker, Rick Snyder, retired Sierra Madre Fire Captain/Fire Marshal, will share his experience saving his home from the Altadena wildfire and offer tips to protect your home. 1.F. Matters from the Audience
Tom Piehota and students from Chapman University, discussed their sustainability plan that was created for the City of Brea noting their findings, community engagement, best practices for wildfire prevention and preparedness and the City's fleet emmissions.
Theresa Lee expressed support for US troops and noted that the Diamond Bar Women's Club is currently raising funds for a project called "Making Spirits Bright" to help with expenses for newly enlisted Marines.
Fred Reed thanked Council and residents for their support and thanked staff students for their work for on the Sustainability Plan created for the City of Brea.

2.A. 2024 Crime Stat Overview
Police Captain Rodriguez provided a presentation that included the 2024 Crime Stat Overview. He spoke about number of incidents, public generated calls, officer initiated activity, reports taken, records information, crime overview, crimes against persons, domestic violence, crimes against property, crimes against society, other offenses, arrests, investigations, community issues, homelessness, traffic enforcement, traffic collisions, DUI's, response times, and drone deployment. He also noted that the crime rate is down by 4%.
In response to Mayor Stewart's questions, Captain Rodriguez explained the difference between a simple assault versus an aggravated assault and crime trends.
Police Chief Hawley stated that crime data and heat maps are viewed quarterly to help staff keep response times low.
