1. CALL TO ORDER: CITY COUNCIL/SUCCESSOR AGENCY/HOUSING AUTHORITY (3:00 pm)

The meeting was called to order at 3:03 P.M. by Mayor Pro Tempore/Agency Vice Chairman/Authority Vice Chairman Cedric Hicks, Sr. in the Helen Kawagoe Council Chambers, Carson City Hall, located at 701 E. Carson Street, Carson, California 90745.

He announced that Mayor Davis-Holmes will be participating at a remote teleconference location at 959 E. Gladwick Street, Carson, California 90746. He also announced public participation information.

1. CONSIDER AND DISCUSS RENAMING THE CÉSAR E. CHÁVEZ DAY TRIBUTE EVENT AND RELATED RECOGNITIONS IN THE CITY OF CARSON (CITY COUNCIL)

RECOMMENDED ACTION

— 1. CONSIDER and DISCUSS renaming the César E. Chávez Day Tribute Event and related recognitions in the City of Carson.

City Manager Roberts, Jr. gave a report.

Motion to rename the Cesar E. Chavez Day Tribute Event and related recognitions in the City of Carson to United Farm Workers Dignity Day submitted by Council Member Jim Dear seconded by Council Member, Dr. Jawane Hilton resulting in 5-0-0-0-0

Discussion was held.

Mayor/Agency Chairman/Authority Chairman Davis-Holmes asked if a Press Release or Press Conference will be held to spread the news of the new title. She directed the City Manager to ensure parks receive updated information and to post an updated flyer to social media with no objection heard. City Manager Roberts, Jr. stated his office will send an updated media package to the Mayor, City Council, and Council Aides.

Assistant City/Agency/Authority Attorney Jones noted Cesar E. Chavez Day is a State holiday and the City observes all State holidays. The State lawmakers plan to rename the holiday. He recommended to include in the motion to give staff direction to update the MOU's accordingly which is subject to negotiations and was accepted by the maker and seconder of the motion.

City Manager Roberts, Jr. stated he will keep the Mayor and City Council posted for the date and time of the Press Conference.
